Once I Loved a Kangaroo
04:31
|
|||
Once I loved a kangaroo
and let her stay all day.
I gave her my whole very home
To hang around and play.
I let her jump my sofa.
I let her jump my bed.
I'd let her jump my kitchen sink
(but she might bumper head).
And when the sky grew dark-dark
And the sun it fell away,
She'd hop to her whole very home
She didn’t wanna stay.
I loved a kangaroo.
I fed her choc-late candy,
Piles of pretty flowers too.
I wrote her fancy poetry
‘bout all the things we'd do.
We'd pack a picnic lunch, go
lie beneath a Wattle tree.
She's a macropodidae
I'm a wannabe wallaby.
And when the sky grew dark-dark
And the moon woke up to see .
She hopped to her whole very home
Coz she was done with me.
I loved a kangaroo.
She don't say no to all the joes,
and other debutantes.
Tell me, what can I do?
A kangaroo wants what she wants.
She's my true marsupial.
We'd cuddle on the couch.
I gave her my whole very heart;
She put it in her pouch...
and she hopped away.

Sign Under Test

Raritan Tolls
is floating on rain
I’m a hundred and three
feet per second from sane
Factory at left’s
a rusty old pail
on a broken glass beach
whose smokestacks are sails
of my own pirate ship
come to carry me away
from the Parkway’s lost souls
and then off to bed
Later, the drive home
the message blinks red
it says SIGN UNDER TEST
SIGN UNDER TEST.
a leper uncured
Keasby Reach turns away
from Amboy. She’s ashamed
and I feel the same way
I feel the same way
Later, the drive home.
the message blinks red
it says SIGN UNDER TEST.
SIGN UNDER TEST.
That’s the meaning I get
The meaning I get
All the meaning we get

Flowers for My Funeral
04:08
|
|||
I’m dead,
I’m dead,
Plant flowers
in my head.
Petunias, where those
bad thoughts were
make excellent
fertilizer.
Tulips, where my
two lips went.
Pastels might
Keep my babble spent
Daisies, something
whimsical,
would flourish
in my ventricles.
My heart pumped
dreams and ambition,
none of which
came to fruition.
Which flower they say
means regret?
Plant loads of it
between my legs.
The gladioli
at my knees
Fake my
moral integrity
And on my feet
don’t plant a thing
except yourself
when visiting.
Oh don’t say no,
there’s nothing sadder
Than to learn
you did not matter
Yellow lends me cheerfulness
White represents my forgiveness
Lilies, a restored innocence
Red denotes love, and
Yellow lends me cheerfulness…

Bath Time Radio
04:17
|
|||
Come darker days
on howling heights
Come driving rain,
extinguished lights.
Come starving dawns
cross empty fields.
Come broken limbs
where no fruit yields.
Come sleepless beds.
Hear mourners bay.
Come violate
all decency.
Come all this shit,
and worse besides,
the setting sun
the ebbing tides,
strap in and smile
and ride the rides.
Ya gotta lean in
the water feels fine
come on and dial in
the bath time radio is playing our tune.
Come sleepless beds.
Hear mourners bay.
Come violate
all decency.
Upon our heads
the worst alights.
The setting sun
the ebbing tides
Strap in and smile
and ride the rides.
Ya gotta plug in
feel the current flow through
let’s howl at the moon
the bath time radio plays our favorite tune.
